David McFerrin

Praised by The New York Times for his "appealingly textured sound," baritone David McFerrin is building a critically acclaimed career across a variety of genres. This season he is a featured Emerging Artist with Boston Lyric Opera, appearing in Madama Butterfly and the American premiere of James MacMillan's Clemency. Other upcoming engagements include reprise performances of Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas with Seraphic Fire in Miami, and the Elder Son in Britten's The Prodigal Son with Intermezzo Opera. Concert highlights have included Monteverdi's Vespers at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, a Carnegie Hall debut with Maestro Gustavo Dudamel and the Israel Philharmonic, and performances with the Boston Pops. He has also sung at the Blossom, Caramoor and Ravinia Festivals, and completed two summer residencies at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont. A resident of Boston, Mr. McFerrin sings regularly with the Handel & Haydn Society and is bass section leader in the Trinity Church Choirs.
